I was comissioned by Pixels & Noise to create 2D animations for the Notting Hill Carnival live stream, the first of its kind due to the pandemic. Filmed in an LED XR stage It was amazing that they were able to pull off such a complicated concept! I helped design and then animate the complete graphics package. We wanted to replicate something that felt real, as if the presenters were truly out in the street, so we made fly posters and painted logos using the Notting Hill branded imagery on virtual hoardings behind the presenters. I created alphas with a roller paint aesthetic to house video content on the panels. We used this look to create broadcast overlays, and lower thirds etc. We created different versions to show some wear and tear to the panels as the weekend progressed. As with all things Lewis, I was able to work at the ‘content’ side of things feeding in to the production pipeline, creating loops and seamless content that could be triggered in the timeline throughout the weekend. Lewis also created and textured a 3D model of a Notting Hill street, including a little cat!
